Isisford State School

Welcome to the Outer Barcoo!

Isisford State School is situated on the banks of the iconic Barcoo River in far western Queensland, approximately 122 km south-east of Longreach. Established in 1881, it is one of the historic schools in the district.

Enrolments fluctuate from 10 to 15 students. Classes are from prep to year 6 and are supported by one full-time teaching Principal and one part-time teacher in a multi-age classroom. Excellent resources complement our small school, as do our facilities and extensive grounds. These include state of the art technology with 1 laptop per student, iPads, and interactive whiteboards. We also have a large library, modern kitchen, air conditioned buildings, and grounds which feature two playgrounds, well maintained gardens, lawns and trees.

As a member of the Outback Advantage Cluster of Small Schools within the Longreach area, we promote a shared approach to curriculum, teaching, assessment and reporting to ensure that each and every one of our students receive the best possible education.

We welcome and encourage all visitors to come and visit our modern “Outback” school by making an appointment for a guided tour, or contacting the office for further information.
